Wall Of Hits was a compliation album by the British glam/hardrock group Slade. It was released November 11, 1991 and reached number 34 in the UK charts. It also included the last singles recorded by the original lineup. Radio Wall of Sound was an unexpected hit, reaching the #21 spot in the UK. This was probably due to the fact that the accompanying video for the single was very memorable. The follow up single Universe didn't do as well as the first single, but still reached #38.
Noddy Holder became weary of constant touring (and effectively managing the band), and left the band in late 1991 after 25 years. The remainder of the band were given time in which to consider their options. Rather than take on another singer, Jimmy Lea effectively retired too. Dave Hill and Don Powell (the band's founder members) formed Slade II with two other local musicians. The name was once again shortened to Slade after a period. The current lineup of Slade are still touring Britain and Europe and are very lucrative.
