Waldemar Romuald Baszanowski (born August 15, 1935 in Grudziądz) is a former Polish weightlifter. He took part in four Olympic Games (from 1960 to 1972). Baszanowski two times won an olympic championship (in Tokyo 1964 and in Mexico City 1968), both in lightweight category. He won five World Championships (1961, 1964, 1965, 1968, + 1969) in the same category. Also, he set twenty five World Records in his career, and, in 1999, he bacame the President of the European Weightlifting Federation.
