Walajapet is a city and a municipality in Vellore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located at 12° 55' 48" North, 79° 22' 48" East.

It is trategically located on the Palar River on the route between Chennai (Madras) and Bangalore. By bus, this town can be reached in 3 hours from Chennai (Madras). It is well connected both by road and railways.

This town, located in the Vellore District, is considered to be the First Taluk of Tamil Nadu, believed to be formed in 1866. Former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888 - 1975) has studied in the Govt. Higher Secondary School of Walajapet that has celebrated its centenary a decade ago.
