[edit] Biography

Born on June 19, 1990 in Lebanon to Nabih and Kawsar Chaya, Walid Chaya moved to the United States at the age of three. First living in Maryland, Walid attended Twinbrook Elementary School. At the age of four, Walid had a baby sister, Rawan Chaya. Then, in the summer of 1998 Walid and his family moved again, this time across the river to Virginia. There, Walid attended Jefferson Houston School of the Arts and Sciences. Transferring schools due to changing school boundaries, Walid finished his fourth and fifth grade school years at James K. Polk Elementary School in Alexandria, VA, where he began his film career, broadcasting the school news every morning. Walid later attended Francis C Hammond Middle School. At Hammond, Walid was a leader in the film department, helping produce the school's new student orientation videos as well as the film productions. In the summer of 2003, Walid moved for the last time, leaving him where he is now, attending Robert E. Lee High School. At Lee, Walid Chaya is involved in Theatre, Madrigals Choir, Speech & Debate, and more. Walid's high school years have also been filled with theatre experience outside of school, including community and professional theatre. Currently, Walid is finishing his senior year at Lee as he waits for college acceptance letters...

[edit] Career

Although Walid has been seen many times in the limelight, he still has his fair play in the dark, behind-the-scenes. Walid's first production was at Hammond Theatre, playing the infamous Big Bad Wolf in The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf. Walid's first musical debut came along in the original production of No More Drama, written by a group of talented performers, one being Walid. Entering high school, Walid kicked off his year getting involved with Lancer Theatre productions. Walid's Lancer Theatre debut was as "David" in Richard Brinsley Sheridan's, The Rivals, directed by Trena Weiss-Null. During Walid's junior year, he wrote, produced, and starred in the original musical, The Facebook, directed by Aliki Pappas and premiering at Robert E. Lee High School. During all this, Walid has made a couple of original movies, just for fun with his friends, available on Google Video. His movie, "The Chase," featuring Meredith Clark and Annie Forsyth, won "Best Film" and "Best Costumes", including two other nominations. Most recently, Walid played Mushnik in Lancer Theatre's Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Allen Carrington Brooks. Walid's last project was his role in Lancer Theatre's "The Nerd", as 'Rick Steadman'. Currently he is technical director and stage manager for Lancer Theatre's Unity Within Music, a Black history show by Aliki Pappas. Shortly, he will be auditioning for his next mainstage performance, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown.
