"Wake The World" was the B-side of the single "Do It Again" which was released by The Beach Boys in 1968 through Capitol Records. It charted at #20 in the United States and #1 in the United Kingdom. It was the band's first ever UK #1 hit. The song was recorded in March, 1968.
"Wake The World" was the first original song that Brian Wilson and Al Jardine wrote together. As Brian later stated "'Wake The World' was my favorite cut. It was so descriptive to how I felt about the dramatic change from day to night...'one by one, stars appear, the light of the day is no longer here'."
