Wajir is a town in North Eastern Province, Kenya. It is capital of the Wajir District. The town is located at around 1°44′50″N, 40°4′8″E. It has a population of 32,207 [1999 census]. [1].

Wajir is located in an arid area prone to drought. In spring 2006 there was a severe famine.
