"Waiting" is the third single from Green Day's 2000 album, Warning:, also appearing on the band's Tune in Tokyo EP. It was released as the main promotional single for the International Superhits! greatest hits collection. The song is a love song about a man that has been waiting for a chance to express his love and finally has one. The song is written on the melody of the Petula Clark song "Downtown". Despite an ambitious video and numerous single releases on both Reprise and Adeline records, the single had very little success in the United States.
[edit] Video
The video features Green Day playing in a house while a bunch of kids jumping around, breaking stuff and having a good time. The video was directed by Marc Webb. It shows the band playing in a bunch of scenes, and focuses on Billie Joe nearer to the end.
[edit] Trivia
- During a Reading Festival performance Billie Joe dedicated this song to drummer Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters.
