Wait Until Dark is a 1967 film which tells the story of a blind woman, Suzy Hendrix, terrorized by three criminals searching for drugs in her apartment. It stars Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Jack Weston.
The movie was adapted by Robert Howard-Carrington and Jane Howard-Carrington from the play by Frederick Knott. It was directed by Terence Young.
Audrey Hepburn was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, the only nomination for the film.
When the film was initially released, theaters dimmed their lights as low as they could, then turned off one light as each light in the apartment on-screen was shattered, until all of the lights in the theaters were completely dark.
Lee Remick received a Tony Award for her role as Suzy Hendrix in the original Broadway stage production [1].
Susie Amy played the Audrey Hepburn role in the recent UK tour by Bill Kenwright which included as cast members Derren Nesbitt, James Carlton, and Michael Melia.
