WAHU-CA (known on air as WAHU Fox 27) is a Fox-affiliated Class A low-power television station on UHF Channel 27 based in Charlottesville, Virginia. The station is owned by Gray Television and signed on in early 2005 becoming the market's first Fox affiliate in the wake of sister stations WCAV (CBS) and WVAW-LP (ABC) signing on. Prior to WAHU's signon, Fox affiliate WTTG from Washington, DC was considered the de facto Fox affiliate for the market and is still seen on cable via "significantly viewed" status via the FCC (though Gray has stated that they may intend to get WTTG taken off of cable at a future time).

It started as WADA-CA, and was a PAX-TV affiliate, first on UHF Channel 55, and then on 27. It was sold by Tiger Eye Broadcasting to Gray in late March 2005, who changed the call letters to WAHU-CA and began the transformation to a part of the Charlottesville Newsplex.

WAHU is one-third of an operation collectively known as the "Charlottesville Newsplex", an attempt by Gray Television to take on established NBC affiliate WVIR (owned by locally-based Waterman Broadcasting); ironically, WAHU did not air news for its first year of existence (a 10:00 p.m. newscast started in February 2006). WAHU, with WCAV and WVAW, are operated out of the same headquarters with some behind-the-scenes duties being run alongside sister station WHSV in Harrisonburg.

WAHU FOX 27 News at 10:00 P.M. can be seen seven days a week.

In 2006 WCAV,WVAW-LP,WAHU-CA became the official flagship stations of U.Va Sports.

[edit] MyNetworkTV

In September 2006, MyNetworkTV was added as a secondary affiliation. The two telenovelas the network carries, Desire and Fashion House, are carried in overnight hours on WAHU starting at 1 a.m.

On November 29, 2006, it was announced that Gray, owner of WAHU, would launch a dedicated MyNetworkTV channel in Charlottesville to be carried on the local cable affiliate, Comcast, on cable channel 2. It has not been announced whether this station will be available over-the-air at all, whether in analogue or digital form.
