W38 warhead

W38 was one of the United States first warheads designed for use with an intercontinental ballistic missiles ICBM, in particular the Titan I. It was a thermonuclear design with a payload of 4 megatons.[1] It was deployed in April of 1961 but was phased out by April of 1965. It was superseded by the Titan II missile family with a W-53 warhead and 9 megaton payload.
