[edit] History

The company was founded by William Lucy in 1765 as a small screw manufacturer, in 1825 it expanded its operations into Jericho, Oxford where a large factory was built. The company expanded into steel and alluminium components, such as ball bearings, nuts, bolts, screws, fasteners etc. The company also built components for cars produced at the Cowley Works in Oxford. The company started manufacturing switchgears for power cables, along with power connectors and disconnectors. This has been going for more than 100 years, and is now the company's main business. In the 1930's, the company started manufacturing street lighting equipment, and is now the largest company of its kind in the UK. The company has also diversified into the property market, letting and selling the land on which its large Oxford factory once stood.
