[edit] King Vladislaus or Wladislaus (never Ladislaus)

The king name was Władysław in Polish and was also spelled: Wladislaus (early Latinized version) or Vladislaus (late Latin and English version), never Ladislaus. This shoud be corrected. Below is a sample of original documents sign by the Vladislaus kings. Althout the form Wladislaus was used more often, in my opinion Vladislaus is much better here, beacuse it is more modern version and more English. Vladislaus Rex 00:33, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Naming

As per Talk:List_of_Polish_monarchs#Naming:

Although Vladislav (1m) and Ladislav (800k) seem to be more popular then Wladyslaw (400k), Wladyslaw and Władysław (which is the correct proper spelling) trump them in historical context search by about 2300 to 173 (Vladislav) / 2 (Ladislav). Wladislaw gets about 1500, and the the most popular of the latiznized -us variants is Wladislaus with 800 (this is including Wiki and its mirrors). Therefore Władysław seem to be the best choice for the first name (same as in original language and the most popular).

Second name: Herman 1500, I of Poland about 1100 and I Herman about 2500. Therefore the move to Władysław I Herman seems the best choice.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 02:32, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
