Vundalli Aruna Kumar (born August 4, 1954), is currently a Member of Parliament in India. He represents Indian National Congress from Rajahmundry constituency of Andhra Pradesh. Vundavalli Arun Kumar is fond of economics and has an interest in understanding and finding out the root causes of poverty and social imbalance.

Aruna Kumar was born to the freedom fighter and founder of "Rajahmundry Chamber of Commerce" Shri Venkata Subbarao and Smt. Lakshmi in Rajahmundray, East Godavari district. He married Smt. Jyothi on 21st December, 1978. Both his parents took up social causes and worked for the betterment of society.

[edit] Recent allegations on Margadarsi Financiers

On 5th November 2006, Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar called a press conference[1] and revealed that Margadarsi Financiers promoted by Ramoji Rao had incurred losses of 1100 crores and that the total money it has raised from public financing, in the form of fixed deposits, was 2200 crores. He demanded Margadarshi promoters disclose where and how the losses had been incurred while the rest of the groups companies are running in profits. Aruna Kumar has further substantiated his claims against the Margadarshi financiers by obtaining their balance sheet and Income tax returns using Right to Information Act enacted by the Parliament of India in 2005.
