VT Communications

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VT Communications is a part of VT Group plc. It consists of two of VT Group's former businesses: VT Merlin Communications and Vosper Mantech.

VT Merlin Communications, formerly Merlin Communications, was essentially the company formed from the privatisation of the BBC World Service transmitter sites. As VT Communications it now provides transmission services to over 20 different customers from four main sites in the UK and several others in the rest of the world.

[edit] National Physical Laboratory time signal

VT has won the contract to provide National Physical Laboratory time signal from the existing provider, BT Communications. Early in 2007 the NPL will start new time signal transmissions from the Company’s Anthorn VLF transmitter. If the trial transmissions are successful the formal inauguration of the relocated facility will be 1 April 2007, when the name of the service will change to “The time from NPL” and the signal from BT Communications will be switched off.
