VSG (Very Special Guests) are an Alternative/Indie/Punk band from Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland.

EARLY TIMES

VSG started in April 2006 when guitarist Finbar Hussey and then drummer Barry O' Mahony approached Eoin Murphy to bass, Eoin accepted and thus the core of VSG was formed. In May 2006 the band approached guitarist Marti Dineen and singer TJ Horgan about being in the band, they accepted, and so the original VSG was formed.[1]

BAND DISAGREEMENTS

Coming onto August 2006 the band weren't doing so well, practices were being interupted by various causes and the band weren't getting anything done, it was here that the band told Barry O' Mahony to leave after rumours of him moving to a different band surfaced, after this Eoin Murphy was moved to drums and the band acquired the services of Brian Hall on Bass.During this troubled time Fearghal Fitzgibbon was temporarly made a member of the band due to a clerical error. He left voluntarily the next day. The next month after even more unsuccessful practices the band got rid of Marti Dineen, as he was disrupting their practices by doing solos and riffs which were disrupting the band's practices, after this the band moved TJ Horgan to guitar as well as singing, and that is how the band is to this day.

MURKY WATERS

In October 2006 the band wrote the song "Murky Waters" their only performed original to date, the song came off very well among the public and as such they are writing more songs at present.

INFLUENCES

VSG site their influences as Snow Patrol, Green Day. Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, System of a Down, Children of Bodom and My Chemical Romance.

TRIVIA

VSG got their name from a ticket at a local gig which read the names of the bands and at the end saying "...plus Very Special Guests" Eoin and Finbar thought this would be a good idea for a name and this is when VSG got their name.

VSG are good friends of local Tralee bands Sypher[2] , The Gnomes, Nephillim[3] and Struck.[4]

Eoin is the only left-handed member of the band even though he plays right-handed drums.

David Raftery does the Sound and Lights for V-S-G.

Fearghal Fitzgibbon is noted as an honourary member of the band. He also plays the keyboard.

TJ and Finbar have their own acoustic set which makes appearences at V-S-G gigs.

VSG's quotes are known to be "SHUT UP EOIN" as drummer Eoin Murphy is known to go crazy while doing Drum Solos, and "3...2...4... GO!"
