Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Liz Willows

This was on Cleanup, and I thought I'd see if I could find enough to flesh it out. But she doesn't appear to be notable. There's only two pages of Google results, basically all speaking at local functions. And there's nothing, that I could find, that we could possibly add to this. - But she's a lesbian who writes poetry that ironically comments on society's shortcomings. HAVE YOU ANY IDEA HOW RARE THAT IS? DO YOU? Or are you just determined to limit "literature" to a "canon" of "dead" white "males"? Fascist, that's what you are. -- orthogonal 18:13, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Can we like, put your comment in BJAODN or something? It made me laugh out loud. Ambivalenthysteria 01:47, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- That sort of was the intention; or more accurately, to make fun of a certain type of "politically correct" special pleading. -- orthogonal 03:46, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Just for the record, I didn't think you were being serious. I just thought that was funny enough to be worth recording. ;) Ambivalenthysteria 08:01, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- I'm white, male and basically not dead. Thankfully. Still, my Birkenstocks, Doc Martens and flannel shirts come together to say delete as non-notable. - Lucky 6.9 22:33, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: As with some of the others we've gotten lately: having an alternative lifestyle is not a unique qualification. She wrote a book of poetry, but we don't know who published it, or if it was vanity. (Actually irony and lesbian are.... No. I will not.) Geogre 00:14, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I thought the italics and scare quotes (especially the ones around "dead" and "male", as if to imply it was merely claimed they were dead or male) were kinda a tip off, but, next time I'm being sarcastic, I will ring a little silver bell, and a pedant will get his wings. -- orthogonal 03:46, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. I'm not a lesbian, but I do have a collection of poetry. Won't someone write me a wiki entry? Gamaliel 02:33, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Keep! Liz Willows is a well known Irish Civil rights and education activist. Her wok was NOT published in a vanity press. She is out there, in the streets, helping, having an impact. She is an editorialist as well. I see that most of those wishing to delete her are men; it is a nightmare trying to get your ideas across, particularly if you are radical, if you are a woman. I've been fortunate as some of my own work was anti-republican enough to gain a high profile, but Willows, as opposed to me, is a saint walking the cobblestones. Keep her!!!!!!!
