Voshon Lenard

Voshon Kelan Lenard (born May 14, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American professional basketball player. He is currently not on the roster of any NBA team, but working out in Metro Detroit waiting for a team to call requesting his services[citation needed]. He is listed as 6' 4" and 215 lbs.

[edit] College Career

Lenard played college basketball at the University of Minnesota, where he was a star. After his junior season, he decided to test the waters of the NBA, and declared himself elibile for the draft. The Milwaukee Bucks selected Lenard in the second round of the 1994 NBA draft. Lenard subsequently opted instead to return to Minnesota to play out his senior season. He finished his career with the Golden Gophers as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 2,103 points.[1]

After graduating, Lenard went on to play in the minor-league Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He averaged 30.1 points per game in 18 games for the Oklahoma City Cavalry during the 1995-96 season. He left in mid-season when he signed a contract with the Miami Heat of the NBA. He played with the Heat for five seasons.

He has since played with the Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors. His a NBA career scoring average is 11.9 points per game.

He is also a former winner of the NBA All-Star Weekend 3-point shootout.

In 2006 he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

  • Lenard entered college with the Class of 1995. This cohort included some of the best Big Ten Conference basketball players in recent memory, including Michigan's Fab Five, Wisconsin's Michael Finley and Michigan State's Eric Snow and Shawn Respert.
