From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, Voncrass, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

[edit] Falar

Hi, Falar lacked sources - above every new page there is a notice that unsourced articles may be deleted. Furthermore, even if it is sourced, a bit of local dialect is not notable enough for a global encyclopaedia. I blocked recreation because the article had been recreated following deletion by another editor.

The fact that people object to article deletion does not mean that the deletion was inappropriate. Two comments came from the creator of a completely bogus article. Many people, unfortunately, also create articles without reading the guidance regarding notability, verifiable sources, non POV, non-advertising etc.

If it is appropriate, I will recreate articles, or more often, enable the creator to do so by retrieving the text. If you think that the deletions of your article by two different admins were in breach of the guidelines, please use the arbitration procedure, since I am not prepared to just reinstate an article for it only to be deleted again. jimfbleak 16:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Also the first entry suggests that this article is another spoof. If that is the case it could lead to a block from editing. First creation: Falar is a member of the ROC (Redwall Online Community). He is a staffer at Terrouge Magazine and the Vulpine Imperium. He is also quite cool and a sexy beast. jimfbleak 16:22, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Season's End

Thanks for your contribution to the Season's End article. I've just altered it slightly to suit the flow of the article better, because the introductory paragraph is intended to be the merest overview.

I'm a little concerned though, because an extraordinarily similar text was edited out some while ago. Firstly the text is unsubtantiated and not independently verifiable from other sources (and none could be found from a web search), and secondly I'm sure I recall that the text in question was found to be a direct lift from another site (and hence a copyright violation). Please, if you can actually cite documented references to the additional material, add them to the article. If there are no references the material will have to be removed once again. It may well be true, and you may well know it first hand, but that is not a good enough foundation for Wikipedia. (See WP:NOR and WP:V, to understand these important policies.) -- Cain Mosni 17:15, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Charming Associates

Hi. It wasn't me that deleted the article - if you take a look at the deletion log entry you'll see details. I've passed on your request. Please note however that even if the band exists it should meet the criteria here to merit inclusion in Wikipedia; Wikipedia is not an indiscrimate directory of every musical ensemble on the planet. One avenue open to you is to ask for the article to be reinstated via the deletion review process. Regards, Tonywalton  | Talk 17:04, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

This was already tagged by Tony Walton. 7 hits on Google, including the band's website, and your wikipedia article suggests that they fail the notability criteria (dozens of non-notable bands are deleted from the enc every day). jimfbleak 17:08, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Try recreating when they have a commercial release. Should be acceptable then. jimfbleak 17:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I have deleted this again. Please re-review the criteria for notability established on WP:BAND, and make sure that notability is established in the article. If another article is created for this entry and notability is still not clearly established and verified with notable and relevant sources, then the article will be deleted and protected from re-creation. --DDG 19:00, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
