Volkswagen D platform

The D platform is the Volkswagen Group's large Automobile platform, and has been used for large luxury automobiles under the Volkswagen, Audi, and Bentley brands over the years.

1991-1994. The D1 platform is basically a stretched C3 platform, housing the Audi V8. It is considered a platform for naming conventions only, as the V8 is more or less considered a C3 platform vehicle.
D1 platform cars:

1994-2003. The D2 platform is an all aluminum space frame which helped to significantly reduce weight without being any less rigid. It is technically the first D platform.

2003-current. The D3 platform currently houses the Volkswagen Phaeton and the current generation Audi A8.
