Voerde Power Station

Voerde Power Station is a hard coal power station in Voerde (Niederrhein) in the circle Wesel and is located directly at the Rhine. The power station produces annually out approx.. 3,7 million tons of hard coal approx.. 11.5 billion a KW/H river. The four power station blocks have together an installed output of 2222 megawatts and to cover the need of approximately 3 million households. It is thereby the largest power station to RISES UP corporation of operator belonging to STEAG. A coal camp with a capacity of 350.000 t adjusts supply and verbrauchsschwankungen. The power station Voerde has high, 1,240 meter high and 1,250 meter high fire-place 2,230 meters. In the power station about 440 coworkers are busy. By the power station the main street leads Frankfurt road the Voerde with DIN sheets and Duisburg Walsum connects. In addition the power station is a location of the topic route "industrial chemistry and energy" of the route of the industrial culture.

At the location Voerde was established to 1970 the power station Voerde west with 2 blocks (west I and west II) to 350 megawatts each. 1982 and 1985 became it around the blocks Voerde A and B with ever approx.. 700 megawatts extends and as the first power station of Germany with a flue gas desulphurating plant (REA) equipped. In December 2005 a new REA with a again established chimney was taken in enterprise
