Vocal score

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vocal score or Piano-vocal score is a music score of an opera, or a vocal or choral composition with orchestra (like oratorio or cantata) where the vocal parts are written out in full but the accompaniment is reduced to two staves and adapted for playing on piano. It could be related to a musical work before it was orchestrated or to the arrangement or transcription of a piece for practical reasons (for example, for rehearsing of the singers or chorus as part of the preparation of the piece for a performance).
