VMOS

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VMOS(IPA pronunciation: [viː'mɒs]), which stands for vertical metal-oxide-semiconductor, is a class of integrated circuits, similar to CMOS. The "V" in "VMOS" does NOT stand for "vertical". The "V" is the make up or shape of the GATE design of the MOSFET. The "V" shape allows the MOSFET to deliver a HIGHER amount of CURRENT from the SOURCE to the DRAIN of the MOSFET through its physical attribute (ie.. shape of the depletion zone creates a WIDER CHANNEL to allow for more current to flow through it.)
