From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The District of Vlorë (Albanian: Rrethi i Vlorës) is one of the thirty-six districts of Albania. Its population of 147,000 (2004 estimate) includes ethnic non-Albanians, especially Greeks.[1] The district has a land area of 1,609 km². It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital is Vlorë. Other places in this district include Himarë, Dhërmi, Cold Water, Palase, Kocul, and Selenicë.
Vlorë is the closest point of the Albanian coast to the Italian peninsula. The district is reputed by many to have a very beautiful coastline (see photo linked below).
