Vladimir Jurowski

Vladimir Jurowski (born 1972 in Moscow, Russia) is a Russian conductor. His father is the conductor Michail Jurowski. He began his musical studies at the Music College of the Moscow Conservatory. In 1990, he moved with his family to Germany, where he completed his education at the High Schools of Music in Dresden and Berlin. He studied conducting with Rolf Reuter and vocal coaching with Semion Skigin.

In the 1996-1997 season, Jurowski joined the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin. He received the title of First Kapellmeister a year later, and continued to work there on a full-time basis until 2001. He was the Principal Guest Conductor of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna between 2000 and 2003.

In January 2001, Jurowski became Music Director of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In 2003, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and a member of the Russian National Orchestra Conductor Collegium. He is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Russian National Orchestra. Jurowski will become Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the beginning of the 2007-2008 season.[1].

In the USA, Jurowski made an acclaimed conducting debut with The Philadelphia Orchestra in October 2005[2]. From this, he has been named as a possible candidate to succeed Christoph Eschenbach as Music Director there.[3] [4].
