[edit] POV
- Information should be centralized and rest (including software code) should be de-centralized. Vjdchauhan 22:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC) (thus a big advocate of Wiki esp wikipedia, wikimapia and wikitravel).
[edit] Wikipedia
- Wikipedia, Wikimapia, Wikitravel should merge to make more info available to users.
- University people (faculty, students etc) should engage more with wikipedia to give it a quantum jump in terms of quality and quantity. Currently I find many generalists (mostly techies) and very few specialist on wikipedia (this observation may be true for Indian Wikipedians where Wikipedia is slowly catching up).
- Info/Pages which do not pass notability test globally but is relevant locally should be allowed to survive e.g. schools/hospitals in a city may not pass notability test globally/within a region but is still valid for people residing in the city. Survival of such pages (this has already started happening albeit a bit slowly) is very important for Wikipedia to be relevant locally as well.
- Wikipedia needs better notification mechanism e.g. 'Categoty Watch' don't report new addition/deletion to this category.
- This user feels that apart from 'discussion' page there should be a POV page/section for debating where a NPOV/neutral moderator can summarize all the distinct points (typically there are very few even for hotly debated/controversial topics) and these distinct points should have voting buttons as well.
- In future as number of wikipedians grow to a level where there are multiple wikipedians at city/district level, then wikipedians can/will start contributing to the society at bigger and local level as well and help it (may be world) make less divisive as well. Aamein.
[edit] Politics
- This user thinks that majority based politics (typically based on Religion/Race) as opposed to minority based politics is far more dangerous for society as former in extreme cases can lead to ethnic cleansing whereas latter which is typically a small and marginalized group is simply asking their due share which in a democratic process needs (collective) voting power.
- This user supports caste based politics in India over religion based politics as latter is a very big and broad vote base categorization and is fraught with dangers whereas 'castes' are relatively much smaller group and it helps marginalized caste to assert themselves and climb further in the social ladder.
- This user things homogeneous society is more rigid/fundamentalist than heterogeneous society.
- This user supports multi party system over bi-party system as two parties can not cannot represent multiple and divergent views of a large society.
- This user thinks that computerization/IT brings efficiency and transparency in govt sector.
- This user thinks that Govt of India should raise Muslim regiment(s) for Indian Army.
- This user is in favor of reservation for :
[edit] Media
- This user supports ban on Tobacco advertising on electronic/print media as well as in popular cinema.
- This user finds majority of Indian TV NEWS channels elitist in nature (including WE THE PEOPLE program hosted by Barkha Dutt). And this user is a non-elitist person.
[edit] IT
- This user advocates Maintenance Oriented Programming (a self coined term) for software development esp Product development where code base survives for years and team can change over time. De-centralization of code is basic concept behind this and here one should avoid sharing of code through mechanism of Inheritance and/or usage of private methods/functions. Such practice reduces side effects to great degree and brings down the cost of subsequent releases (minor and major releases both) considerably. Classes / Objects are good thing to expose functionality but the main business logic should be written in flat code (in separate class/component/dll) having only (big) public/exposed methods/functions.
- In future we should have PC's esp Home PC's primarily having only browser and some notification mechanism (e.g. GMail notification)
