Vitor Meira

Vitor Meira (born March 27, 1977 in Brasília, Brazil) is an auto racing driver. In 2002 he made his debut in the Indy Racing League with Team Menard and drove a full season with them in 2003. For 2004 he joined Rahal Letterman Racing and ran with them for two years. He won the 2004 "IRL Rising Star" award. Perhaps his most notable race came the following year when he finished second in the 2005 Indianapolis 500 to Dan Wheldon. He drove for Panther Racing, owned by Indianapolis businessmen along with former NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh in the 2006 IRL IndyCar season. That year he had his best season result by finishing 5th in the Championship Standings. Meira has run the most IRL IndyCar races without scoring a race win. Despite this he has finished in the 2nd position 7 times in his career.
