Virginia Water railway station serves the village of Virginia Water, in Surrey, England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by South West Trains.

It is a junction station on the Waterloo to Reading Line; the Chertsey Branch to Weybridge leaves the main line here. The platforms are located on the junction: as can be seen from the photograph (taken facing southwards), trains from Weybridge and to Reading use either side of a V-shaped platform; the junction of the tracks is at the London end of the station.

[edit] History

The line from Staines to Ascot, including this station, was opened by the London and South Western Railway on 4 June 1856; the section to Weybridge opened on 1 October 1866.

[edit] Services

Monday to Saturday, there are trains every 30 minutes between London Waterloo and Reading, and between London Waterloo and Weybridge. There are additional services during peak periods, including trains to Aldershot via the Ascot to Guildford line.

On Sundays, trains operate every 60 minutes, and those on the Chertsey branch operate to Woking rather than Weybridge.
