Virginia Rugai

Virginia Rugai is alderman of the 19th ward in Chicago; she was appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley in 1990.

Rugai was appointed to fill the vacancy of the 19th ward alderman. As alderman, she Chairman of Committee on Energy, Environmental Protection, and Public Utilities; she is Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Police and Fire. Additionally she serves the committees of Finance; Budget and Government Operations; Committees, Rules and Ethics; Human Relations; Historical Landmark Preservation; and Transportation and Public Way.

Alderman Rugai is married to Ado Rugai and they have three children: Michael, Robert, and Karen. Rugai is 13-year survivor of breast cancer.
