Virgil, a community in the Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario, Canada, is the administrative hub of the municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Industry centres around winemaking, fruit-growing and tourism. It is located just south-west of old town Niagara-on-the-Lake, where most of the tourism takes place.
Virgil is a large Mennonite community as well, and growing larger every day.
While once a small village, there have been many improvements to the town itself to draw more people in, such as fast food restaurants, subdivisions, and retail chains. Virgil also houses 2 different banks and a multitude of gyms.
Virgil has a large sportspark that include snack bars, two arenas, three baseball diamonds, a skatepark, and upcoming soccer fields. Once a year Virgil holds Canada's second largest annual 'Stampede' (after Calgary Stampede), as far as is known. This festival includes various rides and attractions, many snacks and other amusing events, such as pig races.
