The Vinschgau (Italian: Val Venosta, German: Vinschgau) is the upper part of the Adige (Etsch) river valley, in the western part of South Tyrol, Italy.

The valley is stretched in a west-east orientation, between Resia Pass and Merano. Due to rather warm climate with a lack of rain (400mm per year), the apple plantages there are watered. According to the 2001 census, 97% of the population of Vinschgau speaks German as first language, and 3% Italian.

Vinschgau is also the name of a district (Italian: comprensorio, German: Bezirksgemeinschaft), in which the 13 municipalities of the Vinschgau cooperate. These municipalities are: Glurns, Graun, Kastelbell-Tschars, Laas, Latsch, Mals, Martell, Prad am Stilfser Joch, Schlanders (district capital), Schluderns, Schnals, Stilfs, and Taufers im Münstertal.
