Vinod Rai

Vinod Rai is the Secretary for the financial sector in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He is a member of the elite Indian Administrative Service. Rai received his Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, Master of Arts in Economics from Delhi School of Economics and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hindu College, University of Delhi.

Rai represents the Indian Government's liberal stance on banking and is credited for heading critical reforms in the financial sector which have brought to the fore more products, participants and better liquidity than before in the Indian financial markets. He is involved in improving financial inclusion and regulating microfinance[1]

Rai lives with his wife, Geeta, in New Delhi, India. He has one son, Vikram Rai, who is a 2007 MBA candidate from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and two daughters, Rohini and Ragini.
