Vinje, Sør-Trøndelag

Vinje is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway.

Originally, from 1837, Vinje was a part of Hemne formannskapsdistrikt. On 1 July 1924 it became a municipality of its own with 716. At the same time Snillfjord was separated from Hemne as well.

On 1 January 1964 the municipalities of Vinje and Hemne as well as the Vestre Heim district in Heim were merged to the enlarged Hemne municipality. Before the merger Vinje had a population of 576.
