[edit] Career

Vincent Gotti was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1952 to John Gotti, Sr. and his wife, Fannie. He has four brothers who also turned to crime, John Jr., Peter, Gene and Richard.

Vincent is not a "made member" of the Gambino crime family like his brothers, but he was known to associate with them in their Mafia affairs at times. He was kept out of the inner circle due to his cocaine addiction.

He has been a cocaine dealer for most of his adult years and has been convicted of it several times over the years.

He has held several odd jobs over the years in between his Mafia dealings and his drug dealing. In 1987 Joseph Delmonico, an associate of the Gambino family, was elected to hold the position of Local 23 Business Organizer. Delmonico, proceeded to appoint various relatives and associates of well-known organized crime figures to shop steward positions at Local 23 job sites, including Vincent and Peter Gotti.[1] Vincent also held a position at Turner Construction for five months during 1991, being hired on a recommendation from Local 23.[2]
