Vincent Lamar Wilfork (born November 4, 1981 in Boynton Beach, Florida) plays defensive tackle for the National Football League's New England Patriots.

[edit] Santaluces High School
Wilfork attended Santaluces High School in Palm Beach County, Florida and was a letter winner in both football and track and field. He is 6'2" and a hulking 325lbs. In football, he won USA Today's second team All-American honors. In track and field, he was the Florida Class 6A state runner-up in the shot put and the discus.

Wilfork attended the University of Miami and was a star in both football and track and field (shot put). In football, he finished his career with fourteen sacks, 148 tackles (37.5 for losses), five forced fumbles, and had three fumble recoveries.
Late in his college career, both of Wilfork's parents, Barbara and David Wilfork, died in their forties of natural causes within a few months of each other.

The Patriots drafted Wilfork with the 21st overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. In his rookie season with the Patriots, he compiled two sacks, 27 tackles, and three deflected passes. Wilfork saw considerable playing time during his rookie season, and helped the Patriots get back to the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles in February, 2005.
Wilfork continued to play well in 2005; however, the defending champions were eliminated in the second round of playoffs by the Denver Broncos. In the first round of the playoffs, New England, playing at home, crushed the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Wilfork turning in one of his best performances of the season.
