Vince Power
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vince Power was born on 29 April 1947 in Waterford in Ireland and moved to London aged 16. After many years of working in various jobs he opened his first venue, the original Meanfiddler in Harlesden in 1982.
After various successes and failures he eventually took a 50% stake in the Reading Festival in 1989, rescuing the festival in the process.
Power is a controversial figure and has a reputation as a tough businessman who sees a market and leaps to take it on. This is evident when he started the Tribal Gathering one day legal rave in the mid 1990s to take advantage of raves being made illegal by the John Major government of the time.
In 2005 sold his major shareholding in the Mean Fiddler Group PLC and set up a company the Vince Power Music Group.
