La Angostura is considered among the main attractions of the Argentine Andean Patagonia because of the wooden town itself, but also because of the beauty of its sights. The micro-climate of the area of temperate temperatures, with influence of the Pacific Ocean on the other side of the Andes range, though winters cover it in snow. Near by La Angostura is the Cerro Bayo and its ski centre.
