My name is Wildrick Steele, and I'm primarily a Wiktionarian. I may edit here from time to time, when I'm in the mood.[1] My main interests are languages, history (particularly that of Russia), geography, literature, music, and cycling (passively). An interesting note: I have a 25-volume paper encyclopedia on the shelf next to me, but the fact that there are still more dictionaries around here clarify why I concentrate on Wiktionary.

[edit] Vandal revert to my userpage

Thanks for that Vildricianus - Peripitus (Talk) 10:05, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

My pleasure. Vildricianus 14:44, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Just out of curiosity, how and why did you revert Atlant's userpage within seconds of the edits? --81.75.222.152 13:52, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Why? Looks like vandalism to me. Don't edit other people's userpages. Vildricianus 13:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood the question. The focus wasn't meant on the act of reversion itself, but the timeliness of it. --81.174.7.100 15:15, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
The answer is on my userpage... Vildricianus 15:17, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't follow you. --81.174.7.100 15:37, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Have another look at that paragraph then. There's an initialism in it. Vildricianus 15:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Atlant says "Thanks!"

Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my user page.

Atlant 14:39, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting mine as well. Vashti 19:34, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Mine too my friend. Keep up the good work, hopefully I'll be able to help you out one day in the near future... Budgiekiller 19:59, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your Vote on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Hippo pod

Hi Vildricianus,
Could you please specify which version you support in Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Hippo pod? Thanks, --Fir0002 08:23, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Done. Sorry if I was unclear. — Vildricianus 09:35, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your support in my RfA!

Thanks for voting!
Hello Vildricianus, and thanks for your support in my recent RfA. I'm pleased to announce that it passed with a final tally of (96/0/0). I was overwhelmed by all of the nice comments and votes of confidence from everyone. Thanks again, and see you around! OhNoitsJamie Talk 06:41, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA thanks

Thanks so much for the support on my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. I'm glad you took me into consideration and judged me to be a good enough candidate to support, and I'll be working hard to justify the vote of confidence you've placed in me. Let me know at my talk page if I can help you with any admin-related tasks, or if you just have any comments on how I'm doing as an admin. Thanks! TheProject 22:13, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Transwikis

About Special:Import being enabled on Wiktionary: I can't use it right now, so I'll probably continue to transwiki as I've always been doing it -- manually. If that's a problem, just let me know. Thanks. TheProject 22:13, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I don't have access to Special:Import, and manual copy and paste might be a problem, so it might be a wise idea for me just to cease manual transwikiing for now. There are less than twenty items to send to Wiktionary at the moment, and I'll resume when I'm either given access to Special:Import on Wiktionary, or someone gives me the go-ahead to resume copy+paste transwikis (I'll always copy over the edit history, of course). In the meantime, I'll continue to transwiki to the other projects which don't have Special:Import enabled, and I don't think my not transwikiing to Wiktionary will make that much of a difference over the next month anyways, as I'm leaving in a couple of days to travel and hence will be on Wikibreak for a month. Please clarify the copyright status of copy+paste transwikis with edit history, and hopefully I'll be able to pick up right where I left off when I return. Thanks! theProject 23:38, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can you take a look on Wiktionary at why so many new users are being blocked?

I've become very frustrated with Wiktionary admin wikt:User:Connel MacKenzie, you can read those details if you want (but I suggest you don't). The short of it is, I'd like you to look into the blocking of new users on the English Wiktionary. I created wikt:User:BigNate37 and was blocked almost instantly by Connel MacKenzie. I don't think it was right for my account to have been blocked, and comments on wikt:User talk:Connel MacKenzie#MacKenziebot make me wonder if Wiktionary isn't having all new users blocked when signing up. [edit] My RfA thanks

Hello Vildricianus, and thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with an overwhelming final count of (105/2/0). I was very pleased with the outpouring of kind words from the community that has now entrusted me with these tools, from the classroom, the lesson in human psychology and the international resource known as Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia. Please feel free to leave me plenty of requests, monitor my actions (through the admin desk on my userpage) and, if you find yourself in the mood, listen to some of what I do in real life. In any case, keep up the great work and have a fabulous day. Grandmasterka 06:24, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Impersonator

Not surprised; he'd already done it on Wikinews... RadioKirk (u|t|c) 21:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] wikt:Wiktionary:Main Page

Hey Vil, I'm not across Wiktionary policy, but is there any reason that wikt:Wiktionary:Main Page is completely unprotected? It looks like it's from the deletions of it earlier, but the logs don't say it was protected before today. Thanks! --james(talk) 12:37, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Oops, that's a leftover from the deletion. No one re-protected it. Thanks for notifying me! Cheers, — Vildricianus 13:12, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA thanks

[edit] Goldom's RFA thanks

Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (53/2/1). I've spent the day trying out the new tools, and trying not to mess things up too badly :). I was quite thrilled with all the support, both from the people I see around every day, as well as many users who I didn't know from before, yet wrote such wonderful things about me. I look forward to helping to serve all of you, and the project. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 04:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cross projects

Hmm, so you're chasing WFs on Wikipedia too? That sux. He'd best be putting on his invisibility cloak then. Alas, it is harder to get adminship here than on Wikt - Dangherous was close here, mind. --Brandnewuser 16:47, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 05:45, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
