Viktor Chistiakov

Viktor Chistiakov is also the name of a famous Soviet-era parodist.

Viktor Chistiakov (born February 9, 1975 in Moscow, Russia) is an Australian athlete competing in the pole vault.

Born the same year as Dmitri Markov, Chistiakov won the 1993 World Junior Championships when Markov placed third. The roles were reversed at the European Indoor Championships.

Chistiakov moved to Australia with his wife Tatiana Grigorieva and became an Australian citizen. His personal best is 5.90m, and his best Olympic performance was in 2000 when he finished 5th. He is the son of 1976 Olympic medalist Ellen Streidt.

He separated with Tatiana after she discovered he had an affair.

In mid-2006 he declared he was transferring back to Russia.
