Talk:Viki (Suikoden)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Actually, other characters can fail with a Blinking Rune (as well as with other runes).
[edit] Overhaul
Yeah, I'm really going to gut this thing. The use of vocabulary and general phrasing is awful and there's a bunch of stuff that's not only purely speculation, but unlikely speculation at best, such as the teleportation erasing her memory.
The things we DO know beyond a doubt are:
- She warped into the Suikoden I setting from somewhere, apparently by mistake.
- She warped directly from the party celebrating the Toran unification to the forest where Riou found her. This is confirmed by Richmond. She seems to have no idea what’s going on.
- She appears in Suikoden III saying that she missed a meal again.
- She appears in Suikoden IV with the same dialogue, although now seemingly used to the situation.
- She appears in Suikoden V once again in the same situation, familiar with the situation and increasingly frustrated with her inability to stuff herself at post-war banquets.
- She says she wasn't the one who busted the hole in the Sindar ruins, even though we know she did it. Whether this means that this Viki is prior to the one in Suikogaiden 2, or she's just stupid, is unknown.
- Her Blinking Rune is not unique in any way. It's just another Blinking Rune, not a True Blinking Rune or the other stuff I've seen some people say.
- She has a home. Somewhere.
- She believes she has encountered Jeane before by Suikoden IV, and she is sure to have seen her “lots of times” in Suikoden V. Yes, it conflicts with her not recognising Lorelai, but that’s what’s in the game.
That's what I'm going to note under mystery. Wikipedia is not the place to post theories. Finally, I'm going to cut off the "Levels of ditziness" from the trivia section, as that's an absolutely abstract field not only subject to each player's interpretation (Personally, all her appearances seemed the same to me), but also to how the constantly-shifting development teams managed to portray her and how the not-quite-pristine-record translators decided to show her. [edit] Trivia
there is a character in Trinity Blood that acts almost and looks like viki! the character in the first episode named jessica is very much like viki, they both look alike, they are clumsy and they both have some way of transporting one place to another (with the fact that jessica can pilot an airship) and the only thing is, is that jessica is smarter than viki. she also was saved by the hero in the episode(which lazo kinda does),the hero accidently scares jessica silly by popping out of no where.
- Someone please verify this, provide a screenshot or whatever to make sure this isn't just some random comparison to another clumsy black-haired woman. Otherwise, I'm removing it. Ephyon 02:29, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
i have found 2 pictures i will post them in a few minutes here and then on the article and just make a new section of comparisons if thats alright i cant seem to make the picture appear at the moment
one picture another picture —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hotspot (talk • contribs).
- PLEASE SIGN YOUR COMMENTS. Look, I'm sorry, but while I can sort of see a similarity in the first pic, that's nowhere near enough to make a comparison. The "oblivious clumsy girl" is a tremendously cliché character in Japanese works, and unless there is some closer form of proximity, like that girl messing up things whenever she sneezes, a comment by the character designer saying he/she based her on Viki (Like Rumiko Chie from Higurashi, whom the author admitted based on Ciel from Tsukihime) or basically something more concrete than the fact that she's black haired clumsy and handles transportation, it's simply way too vague to make it encyclopaedic content. [edit] Other Viki
There is another thing called VIKI in I, Robot movie. Shouldn't there be some more reference? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.149.178.63 (talk • contribs).
- Okay, not sure what you mean here. If you are saying there is a reference between Suikoden's Viki and I, Robot's VIKI, that's pretty much ridiculous (Yes, I've seen the movie). If you are saying that there should be a redirect because the name "Viki" is not exclusive to this character, then you are absolutely right. I was planning to move this to "Viki (Suikoden)" following the trend of the other characters but forgot about it, I'll do it soon enough. Ephyon 22:28, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
