Vidnoye

Vidnoye (Russian: Ви́дное) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, situated three kilometers south of Moscow city limits at . It is the administrative center of Leninsky District. Population: 52,198 (2002 Census); 58,000 (1995 est.).
Started as Rastorguyevo summer cottage community in 1902. In 1949 settlement of Vidnoye was established for workers at the newly built Moscow Coke and Gas Works factory (work on the factory started in 1937, but was interrupted during World War II). Vidnoye was granted town status in 1965.
- Industry: Moscow Coke and Gas Works, Metallist factory, Gipsobeton company.
- Public transportation: commuter trains to Moscow (Rastorguyevo railway staition of the Pavelets line), eight bus lines. Several trolley lines were introduced recently (fourteen trams as of January 2006).
- Local newspaper: Vidnovskiye Vesti (est. 1931).
- One local cable TV station: Vidnoye-TV.
