Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority are responsible for the provision of high quality curriculum and assessment programs for all students in Victoria, Australia.

The VCAA has been established to:

develop curriculum for all Victorian schools
assess student learning and monitor student achievement, and
conduct research leading to innovative educational programs.

The VCAA is a statutory authority that reports directly to the Victorian Minister for Education and Training through the VCAA Board.

At the senior secondary level, the VCAA provides curriculum and assessment for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).

At the Years Prep to 10 level, the VCAA provides curriculum for the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) and administers the Achievement Improvement Monitor (AIM) program which provides an indication of how well the literacy and numeracy skills of students are developing. Students across Victoria in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertake the testing.

The VCAA also celebrates student achievement through its excellence and awards programs.
