Victoria Merrick

Victoria Merrick was one of the original characters in Holby City. Victoria was a surgeon who had a good grasp of the human anatomy but struggled to cope under the intense pressure of operations. Her father, Sir Charles Merrick, was an eminent surgeon and she felt a lot of expectations and pressure. Her boss, Anton Meyer, considered her an intelligent young women with a lot of potential, but did not consider her to be suitable material for a surgeon and transferred her to the paedatric wing to work as a doctor. Victoria tried to convince him to reinstate her as a surgeon, but he insisted the experience would be good for her.

Ultimately, an operation indirectly cost Victoria her life. She performed an operation on a young girl which she decided to terminate. The girl's father could not accept the decision, and stabbed Victoria to death in her own flat. He confessed to Mr. Meyer whilst they were trapped in a lift before taking an overdose --- having been convicted by his own guilt. Meyer was outraged and attempted to revive the man so that he could be brought to trial and punished for Victoria's murder, but was hampered by the lack of equipment available to him in the lift.

Victoria was played by Lisa Faulkner.
