Victor Zangiev
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Victor Zangiev (Russian: Виктор Зангиев) is a former Soviet and Russian amateur wrestler with a background in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
In 1989 he was part of a contingent of Soviet amateurs invited by Antonio Inoki to his NJPW promotion to train and compete as professionals. Zangiev went on to compete in Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW, and the stiff-style UWFi.
He was quick, agile, and light on his feet, often impressing the crowd with his flexible gymnastic-like maneuvers.
It is possible that he has influenced the Street Fighter character Zangief, although it has not been confirmed.
