Victor Winz

Victor Winz was an Israeli chess master.

He played for the Palestine team in two Chess Olympiads; at fourth board (won 2, lost 9 and drew 2) in the 6th Olympiad at Warsaw 1935, and at third board (won 4, lost 6 and drew 5) in the 8th Olympiad at Buenos Aires 1939.

In September 1939, when WW II was broke out, Winz, along with many other participants of the 8th Chess Olympiad (Najdorf, Stahlberg, Frydman, Feigins, Czerniak, Kleinstein, Rauch, Eliskases, Michel, Engels, Becker, Reinhardt, Pelikan, Skalička, Luckis, Raud, Gromer, Sulik, Seitz, de Ronde, Sonja Graf, etc.) had decided to stay permanently in Argentina.

In 1941, he took 7th in Buenos Aires (Najdorf won, followed by Czerniak, Pilnik, Michel, etc.). In 1941, he took 17th in Mar del Plata (Stahlberg won, followed by Najdorf, Eliskases, Engels, Frydman, Czerniak, Feigins, Guimard, etc.).
