Victor Li

Victor Li Tzar-kuoi (Chinese: 李澤鉅; pinyin: Lǐ Zéjù) (1964-), Hong Kong-based businessman with Canadian citizenship, is son of tycoon and billionaire Li Ka-shing and brother of Richard Li.

Born in Hong Kong and earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees from Stanford in 1985.

Li began into the business in the shadow of their father. He spent early parts of his career working on projects for his father. He rose up the ranks in various companies owned or controlled by the senior Li:

  • Director of Husky Energy Incorporated 1987–2001
  • Co-Chairman of Husky Energy Incorporated 2001–
  • Director of Hopewell Holdings 1991–2002
  • Chairman of Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited 1996–

Li immigrated to Canada and spent time with investment bank Wood Gundy Incorporated, a company later acquired by CIBC (a major Canadian bank for which his father had a 10% stake in). He is the co-chairman of Canadian-based Husky Energy. In late 2003, he became the largest stock holder of Air Canada. However, due to inability to come up with an agreement over the pension agreement with Air Canada's unions, Li cancelled the deal.
