[edit] History
In the III century B.C. in the place where now is placed Vibo Marina there was a Roman harbour made on demand by Agathocles the tyrant of Syracuse. The installation of the harbour goes from the caste of Bivona to the high part of Vibo Marina, where a Roman manor was founded in the XX A.D. century. Vibo Marina was originally called Porto Santa Venere (Santa Venere Harbour). A legend tells that the local fishermen discovered on the sandy shore a statue of Santa Venere. In the 1928 A.D. the name was changed in Vibo Marina.
