Vernon Township, Clinton County, Ohio

Vernon Township, one of thirteen in Clinton County, Ohio, is located in the west central part of the county. In 2000, the population was 2,685 up from 2,015 in 1990. The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District. The village of Clarksville is located here.
It is bordered on the south by Marion Township, on the west by Washington Township in Warren County, on the north by Adams Township, on the northeast by Union Township, and on the east by Washington Township.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
The township is in the Clinton-Massie Local School District.
Major highways include State Routes 132, 133, 350, and 730, and the 3C Highway.
Cowan Lake State Park is located in Vernon and Washington Townships.
