Veritaserum is a popular Harry Potter fansite named after a powerful truth serum mentioned in the series. It is well-known for its galleries, which are home to more than 20,000 Harry Potter pictures (as of June 2006) as well as videos of Harry Potter related material.
The site was founded by Matthew Vines in August 2003, and as of March 2006, more than forty volunteers were listed on the site's staff page. Vines, who is now 16, attended the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire press junket, London premiere, and New York premiere in the fall of 2005 with other fan sites.
Veritaserum is also known for its accurate and quick news updates and is often right on top of any "big" news that surfaces. Its news is manually translated into ten languages, giving the web site a more international feel.

[edit] Veritaserum Forums
The forums on the Veritaserum site are also popular. The forums are led by a small group of Moderators and "Prefects", who are there to assist any newcomers as well as befriend the old-timers. The forums are smaller than other prized Harry Potter fansites, but are extremely well-organized. The "no one-liners" rule that was put into effect before the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince promotes discussion in an orderly fashion.
A new, exclusive section of the forums, named the "Great Hall," was established to encourage mature debates among members. To gain entry into the Great Hall, a member must submit a formal application to a Moderator, who grants them access.
Not only are the news sections constantly updated, but the forums are as well. A new staff and member ranking system has recently been put into play to better reflect the Harry Potter fandom. The member levels represent the years and events Harry has undergone during his school career. This idea was put forth by supportive members and by the whole of the staff team. An example of this is Moderators have their titles now surnamed 'Wizengamot' and Prefects have their titles surnamed 'Head Aurors'.

Veritaserum has recently achieved over forty volunteer staff members who help out in various sections of the site. Veritaserum's Staff is a mix of maintenance developers and designers, forum moderators, news translators, theory managers, gallery helpers, and video catchers.

This section of the staff takes care of the overall site, (main page, forums, galleries etc.) These staff members are made up of trained website designers.
[edit] Forum Moderators
This staff controls and moderates the Veritaserum Forums. The entire forum staff comes to a count of 16 admin and moderators. In addition to the official moderators, there are also 'Prefects' which come to a total of 6.

These staffers take complete care of the languages ends of the site. Their job is to translate the main site news into their selected language daily. The links to each of the translated sites can be found here. Veritaserum news is translated into 9 international languages which include Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Romanian, Polish, and Finnish.

This group is devised up of devoted photographers and video catchers. Whenever a Harry Potter event goes on, the main source of the media comes from these people.
