Vergato is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 30 km southwest of Bologna. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 7,352 and an area of 59.9 km2.[1]
The municipality of Vergato contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Riola, Tolè Cereglio, Calvenzano, Castelnuovo, Prunarolo, Pieve Roffeno, and Susano.
Vergato borders the following municipalities: Castel d'Aiano, Gaggio Montano, Grizzana Morandi, Marzabotto, Savigno, Zocca.
