Vera King Farris

Vera King Farris was the third president of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey from May 25, 1983 until June 2003. She was the first African-American president of a New Jersey public college. She was named New Jersey Woman of the Year in 1992, and holds seven doctorate degrees. Farris was succeeded by Herman Saatkamp. She arrived at Stockton from Kean University in Union, New Jersey, where she was Vice President for Academic Affairs. She was the first African-American woman on the Board of Directors at Richard Stockton College.
